NEXT 2023 A/W menswear team project     *Only included own works*

A second-year project to gain insight into working within the industry as well as alongside peers.

This A/W menswear project contains two different themes which are  ‘Peaceful Essence’ for casual wear and ‘Acidic shift’ for formal wear.

Peaceful Essence

This ‘Peaceful Essence’ is about men's casual wear with a unisex aesthetic. In this project, our team was highly inspired by the 22/23AW textile trend ‘vegetation’.

Our primary target customer is the young generation similar to this concept's muse, Deon Hinton.

Dan Hinton, the muse of this concept, has the atmosphere we want to talk about in this peaceful essence, He describes masculinity as the most fluid thing he's experienced thus far. “I love to debunk and tear apart the construct of what was ingrained in me by wearing what I want, whether that be a feminine top or my plethora of bags,” says Deon.

We used natural bright colours which are usually hard to find in A/W menswear and soft textured fabric to give a comfortable vibe. As a team, we tried to show lots of variety of men's casual wear.

Acidic Shift

This 'Acidic shift' is about gender-neutral formal wear. Unlike concept 1 'Peaceful essence', our team brought ideas from the acid pattern trend and Timothée Chalamet's awards ceremony fashion which is this concept muse.

For this concept, the primary target customer is the young generation who has open-minded. Since gender stereotype is one of the sensitive social issues for them and the main feature links well with our concept.

Although there are lots of cases of feminisation of masculine pieces, it's hard to find the opposite.

However our team thought that beauty is not limited by a specific gender, it is just depending on how people want to express themselves. So proven to this thought, in this concept, we will show the various opportunities for males' formal wear with a feminine vibe to express their beauty.

In this work, We are highly inspired by digital works with blurry, acidic aesthetics and Paul Smith's floral patterns. As a team, we tried to show various potential of men's formal wear.
